The NTO Electric Cello

A totally unique instrument in the field of classical-electric instruments, the design incorporates the fluid aesthetics of a traditional cello but is functionally designed for today’s musician.

The trademarked signature cutaway not only gives the NTO E3 its distinct look, but also weights the instrument so that it hangs on the shoulder with the neck in the correct position for optimum playability. Played without amplification the cello is nearly silent. Amplified, the NTO electric cello can rival any rock instrument.

There is no external hardware required to wear and play the NTO electric cello in a comfortable position except for a guitar or bass strap.

The vertical neck position and raised bridge allows the instrument to be bowed. There is minimal difficulty for a trained cellist to transition from an acoustic cello.

The most notable difference is the freedom to stand and plug into an amplifier, which opens a wide range of live performance opportunities. There is no end-pin in an NTO Electric Cello, just 2 buttons for a strap.

The E3 series was designed in response to the absence of an electric cello with an aesthetic appeal that matched its sonorific excellence.
